Confessions of a sugar junkie.

It's time I let everyone know. I'm a sugar junkie. I've been a sugar junkie as long as I can remember. I've sought therapy (for once, I'm actually not kidding...). I was told that my sugar addiction is similar to alcohol addiction (to which I scoffed and promptly quit therapy. I'm a real tried and true sugarholic. Abstinence is key for me.

I've been following a low-carbohydrate, non-processed foods diet since June 13th and haven't even touched an ounce of sugar. I've been feeling amazing and I would swear that I've lost some poundage. I've honestly been feeling like a million bucks. Then.... leave it to some poor planning and a shitty schedule at work and now I've eaten a muffin and two and a half donuts. Grrrrr, baby. Gotta get back on the train quickly before it pulls out of the station! Why do we do this to ourselves?

I go to work.

Sometimes I hate my job and sometimes I love my job (I'm in HR, by the way). Here's an example of one:

Annoying male employee that stands way too close to me: Can you give a message to someone for me?

Me (unsure of when my job title became receptionist): You want me to give someone a message for you?

Employee: Yeah. Someone did something nasty in the bathroom and didn't flush the toilet.

Me (surprised that I'm now the janitor): Okay.... did you flush the toilet?

Employee: No.

Me: What exactly is it that you want me to do?

Employee (very irritated): I don't know.

After some thought, I decided to create a committee called TEAM FLUSH. We'll conduct weekly workshops in the mensroom on how to flush the toilet properly. I'm also thinking that maybe we can discuss technique at the urinal as well as the most effective way to empty your bowels discreetly.

Honestly! What the hell does this guy want me to do?

I've been taking a supplement, CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), in addition to my normal vitamin regime. After a couple months, I found out that I was only taking half of a dose so I recently upped it to the full dosage (maybe a few mg more) to 4,620 mg. If anyone has any information about it, I'd be oh-so-happy to hear about it. Apparently, it's supposed to help with bodyfat reduction in the stomach,ass,thighs area? I don't know....

The low-carb diet experiment was a bit of a wash for me. After 3 days of super-low carbs, I dropped about 4.5 pounds of what I assume was water weight. For the following two weeks, I played with the same half-pound. Not worth it to me. My runs are crappy because the of it, but I definitely *feel* better when I eliminate the refined sugars. I'm playing around with a new running/strength/nutrition program and I'm logging every little morsel in Fitday. Currently, I want to see if the old calories in/calories out belief holds true so I've done all of the math (HA! coming from the person who still uses her fingers.....) and have calculated what it would take to reach my goals for the marathon. I'll try to keep updating with regards to my progress and anything else silly that happens around here.
